From April 26 to 28, Granada hosted the 40th HISPALYT (Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Bricks and Clay Tiles) Meeting, which also served to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the association. From MORTE, once again, we wanted to be present at such an important moment for the association, advising the ceramists and sharing our experience, to jointly contribute to the development of the Spanish ceramic sector.

The main event was the General Assembly, in which the president of HISPALYT, Francisco Morant, appealed to the unity of the sector as “we are living moments of great challenges in which it is essential to continue working together“.

It is clear that in the last few years there has been a gradual increase in the production and turnover of the structural ceramics sector, which are an accurate reflection of the recovery of construction in Spain.

In this context, HISPALYT has intensified the work of promotion and dissemination of the advantages and characteristics of the materials and the new ceramic construction systems. Highlighting the significant investments in R & D that Spanish manufacturers have made in recent years so as to improve the performance of their products.

At the same time, the commitment to sustainability was stressed, in order to demonstrate that, the construction of buildings with ceramic materials is totally respectful with the environment. To this end, the Environmental Product Declarations (EDPs) have been developed. These documents report, among other things, about the consumption of natural resources (water, energy and renewable resources) and atmospheric emissions throughout the life cycle of the different ceramic products.

Finally, this meeting served to honor the former president of HISPALYT, José Malpesa, who received the Silver Brick in recognition of his work leading the Association from 2012 to 2017.
