BOUYER LEROUX COLOMIERS MODERNIZES ITS DIE CLEANING PROCESS
BOUYER LEROUX is one of the most important groups in France specialized in the manufacturing of heavy clay bricks, with several factories across the country.
One of these factories, located in Colomiers, decided two years ago to modernize its die cleaning system, going from a manual process to an automated one.
BOUYER LEROUX COLOMIERS has a production capacity of 150,000 tons per year and makes several types of bricks, such as the BGV3+, used for single-family home construction; the UrbanBric, employed in collective housing; and the PTR2027R15, a rectified Poteau brick.
This product variety requires operators to frequently change dies, which must be constantly cleaned to remain in perfect working condition. This challenge led the company to explore ways to optimize the process.
Previously, Colomiers used the traditional method, where operators manually cleaned the dies using a metal rod to remove most of the clay, finishing the process with a high-pressure washer.
This system not only demanded significant physical effort but also posed safety risks and potential damage to die components—key factors that led them to opt for automation.
To learn more about this decision, we spoke with Ronan Loisel, the factory’s production manager, who explained the benefits of this transition. He also highlighted that the company placed its trust in MORTE’s Die Washing machine, a well-established solution in the industry with over ten years on the market.
According to Ronan, the Die Washing Machine has brought significant improvements in several areas:
- Enhanced safety: The risk of workplace accidents has been reduced.
- Less physical strain: Workers no longer need to manually perform demanding cleaning tasks.
- Increased efficiency: The dies are cleaned thoroughly with a much faster and simpler process.
„The machine is very easy to operate, and we have never had any issues with it. We highly recommend it to all brick manufacturers because it simplifies the job, improves safety, and ensures optimal die cleaning. In fact, several other BOUYER LEROUX plants purchased the MORTE´s Die Washing Machine after this initial trial in Colomiers,“ says Ronan Loisel.
Thanks to this automated solution, BOUYER LEROUX COLOMIERS has successfully optimized its production, improved working conditions for its employees, and increased safety within its factory.
