MORTE CONSOLIDATES ITS COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT
At MORTE we remain committed to protecting the environment, and in accordance with our certification to the UNE-EN ISO 14001:2015 standard, we periodically implement a series of new preventive measures to minimize or eliminate the impact of environmental aspects derived from our activity.
In the evaluation and assessment of environmental aspects during 2022, the most significant are:
- Scrap generation (NHW)
- Coolant consumption (HW)
- Emissions from refrigerant gas leaks (HW)
As usual, we have carried out an analysis with the personnel involved and the values are in accordance with the activity of the company, although it is appealed that we continue to control them.
On the other hand, the following table reflects the evolution of Hazardous Waste (HW), Non-Hazardous Waste (NHW) and Electricity Consumption (EC) in the period 2020-2022.
The analysis of the graph shows:
- Very significant reduction in the volume of Hazardous Waste (HW) during last year, mainly due to the reduction in the generation of coolants.
- A very significant increase in NHW in 2,022, dominated by scrap and shavings, which have been sold massively over the past year for reasons of price and storage space.
- Reduction in electricity consumption (EC), despite having worked in 2,022 for more hours than in the 2 previous years, data that reflects our effort to internalize better work habits.
In the electrical section, we established as environmental objective for 2022 to reduce electricity consumption by 20,000 Kw.h (working the same hours), an objective that was more than met, reaching 64,980 Kw.h.
This has been possible thanks to the modification of some processes and their schedules and the involvement of our staff.
Finally, we are pleased to inform you that the environmental impact achieved in 2022 with this action has meant the non-emission of 32.49 Tm of CO2.
