Review: Batimatec 2016

Batimatec is undoubtedly the biggest construction fair in Algeria and the most important in Africa, as a result of the surge in construction in the country fomented by ambitious housing and public works programmes. In fact, the latest Five-Year Plan envisages the construction of two million homes for the 2015-2019 period.

MORTE has had a very positive experience there this year, as with our participation in previous years.

Among everything, we would highlight the large turnover of visitors to our stand as well as the interest shown by many of our clients in the development of new products, such as brick-making dies with suitable thermal and heat insulation – oriented as ever towards improving quality in construction. Equally, a positive assessment was made of MORTE’s willingness to work side-by-side with the client, always in search of improving their profitability, using dies with a modular construction system – enabling damaged pieces to be replaced and thereby extending their productive life; and the use of MOR 05, the hard metal formula patented by MORTE which offers the highest wear resistance and stability that can be found on the market.

However, right now, Batimatec‘s greatest strength is also its Achilles heel.

Thus, in this fair, companies from the construction sector were present which are involved in areas as diverse as construction machinery and equipment, construction materials, decorative elements, civil construction and public works, equipment and tools, safety materials, earth-moving and stone and marble working machinery, flooring and veneers,… and dies for ceramic extrusion.

As we tend to say in Spain, ‘do not bite off more than you can chew‘. Hence, we consider that it would be of interest to the organisers of Batimatec to consider creating a pavilion devoted to the Ceramics Industry which, over time, could well become a specialised sector fair.

This has been spoken about at the fair for some time but has yet to materialise.
